Freeform Knitting and Crochet (Milner Craft) (Milner Craft)

The Witches’ Craft: The Roots of Witchcraft and Magical Transformation -

Freeform Knitting and Crochet (Milner Craft) (Milner Craft) Customer Review: informative, but not concise.
I bought this book in the hope that it would strengthen some of the ideas that I had gained through my own exploration of freeform knitting. Much to my dismay, the book wasnt very much help. Although there are quite a few pages showing helpful knitting and crochet techniques, to use in conjunction with your freeform knitting, the projects don’t really push this technique to the boundaries. Alot of the work freatured in the book is very flat, but I can assure you that when using freeform knitting, you can create some gorgious, 3D effects that just grow and grow…
The patterns for making the projects arn’t very clear either, infact they are relatively hard to follow and I believe that once on the attempt of trying to follow them, one is seemingly going to do as they please after a certain amount of time; essentially this is what the whole art of freeform is about, creating, unique knitted pieces, every single time. Release yourself from patterns!
So if you looking for a book on freeform knitting, then I would just buy a concise knitting and crochet encylopedia and just make your own rules. Freeform knitting is just unregulated knitting, there arn’t really any instructions to follow, other than what technique to manipulate.
Customer Review: Opens up a whole new world of creativity
I bought this book because some of the freeform objects I’ve seen on the internet have simply blown me away with their beauty. When I actually started using the book to learn new stitches and get an idea of what freeform is really all about, I was amazed to discover that here at last was a way in which I could be creative without having to be gifted, or neat, or even particularly knowledgeable. With just the very basic kntting and/or crocheting skills, this books shows you how to make pieces of fabric to delight the soul.
People like me who cannot maintain a constant tension, or achieve a neat edge, or even finish a row with the same number of stitches with which I started, might even possibly be at an advantage. With this book’s help, all you really need is a good idea of what colours you like to see together, and the ability to throw off the shackles of knitting and crochet convention.
It is an absolute delight and the most rewarding craft book I have ever owned.

Writing Fiction: A Guide to Narrative Craft Customer Review: A must for serious novelists
Every section teaches a critical skill, each essential for the mastery of novel writing. My copy is thumbworn from constant reference on how to apply specific techniques. If you are a beginning novelist and want to understand how to get started on the right foot, you must read this book.
Customer Review: Best book on the craft of writing ever written!
I teach writing in the UCLA Writer’s Program (online) and always recommend this and “What If” by Ann Bernays and Pam Painter. Burroway’s book is absolutely the best book on the craft of writing I’ve ever found. Anybody who aims to write well would do him- or herself a huge favor by buying this book. I’ve been drawn to it over and over when writing my own books, “The Death of Tarpons” (novel), “Monday’s Meal” (Collection of short stories; and my forthcoming “Over Easy” from Random House and Ballantine Books (1999). I’m now involved in writing screenplays and the techniques Ms. Burroway covers in her book cover that form as well. I think giving it 5 stars is not enough and if it were possible to award ten stars, I would, enthusiastically. If you only buy one book on writing in your lifetime, make it this one!

The Armourer and His Craft from the XIth to the XVIth Century

Something Special: Seasonal and Festive Art and Craft for Children (Belair - A World of Display) -

The Armourer and His Craft from the XIth to the XVIth Century Customer Review: Excellent, if a little dated
The first thing to remember about Ffoulkes’ work is that it is over 100 years old. Much of the research contained within has since been revised. That said, as long as you read with caution and cross-reference with other sources, this is an extremely useful book. Many of the drawings and photographs are excellent. A good companion to Edge and Paddock’s “Arms and Armour of the Medieval Knight” for anyone interested in European armour.

Moon Magic: Myth and Magic, Crafts and Recipes, Rituals and Spells (Llewellyn’s Practical Magick)

The Archer’s Craft -

Moon Magic: Myth and Magic, Crafts and Recipes, Rituals and Spells (Llewellyn’s Practical Magick) Customer Review: Inspiring and insightful
This book is FANTASTIC. It’s got so many great ideas, crafts and recipies….but the real heart of the book are the sample rituals she gives each month. They range from simple to rather more complex…each one very beautiful.

There is also folklore for each moon of the month. This book is not a beginner “how to” for Wicca, but it is good, in a different way, for beginners to understand, as Witches/Pagans, how much power the moon holds over our human life, and our Earth.

There are many books on the moon, moon goddesses and our sacred Triple Goddess, but none have I read that has as much substance as this wonderful book.

Buy it to be educated, uplifted and inspired.
D J Conway writes in a way you know she loves her subject….and you put the book down loving it to, and ready to greet the full moon with admiration, strength and love.
Customer Review: Worth the money!!
I thought this was a great book. It gives you great ideas for each month. The book is set up on a monthly basis. There are rituals, dieties, and spell crafting that pertains to each month. I really enjoyed it and thought it was well worth the money. I would recommend it to anyone.
